BEAUTY | The Battle of the Blushers
Shades Left to Right: MAC Warm Soul, MAC Please Yourself, Clinique Ginger Pop, Sleek Flushed, theBalm Fratboy, BH Cosmetics Elegant, Jaclyn Hill Palette; Rosé Spritz, Amaretto & Pamplemousse
I’ve been meaning to create this post for quite some time now, as I’m so bad for sticking to one blush for months on end (yes Fratboy, I’m looking at you..) and I wanted to branch out a bit more and compare what I already have in my collection, rather than going out and buying more.
I am definitely more drawn to pink shades, however I actually tend to prefer a more peachy toned blush to my cheeks – which is strange as this is never what I pick up! So, let’s see what I have in my collection..
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette – £48.00 (Now SOLD OUT)
Hands down one of the best palettes I’ve ever bought. I’ve never bought anything from BECCA Cosmetics before and I was seriously impressed with the pigmentation and quality of this face palette. Also, you know that if Jaclyn Hill puts her name on something, then it’s going to be bloody amazing!
Sleek Blush, Flushed – £4.99
Such a great blush, especially for the price, and the shade is a really lovely deep pink, with slight flecks of shimmer in it. This product isn’t highly pigmented at all, which I personally really like because it means I can’t make myself look like a clown! However, this does sometimes apply a little patchy, so you do have to work hard in order to blend it out seamlessly. I will definitely be picking up another one of these Sleek blushes in a different shade, to try another one out and see if the formula is slightly better in a different colour!
Mac Mineralize Blush, Warm Soul – £23.00
Admittedly with this one, I was a little disappointed. I picked this up at Swindon Designer Outlet due to it being highly raved about. However, I think I must have bought a ‘look-alike’ blush as the colour just doesn’t seem as genuine as the normal MAC blush. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great blush for everyday, due to it’s very natural hue, but I just expected more from a highly raved about product.
Mac Mineralize Blush, Please Yourself
I hardly ever reach for this blush, I think I’ve maybe used it once since I bought it over a year ago – which is really bad I know! The thing is, I’m so bad for sticking with the same products that I know and love, so I hardly ever switch things up and use different products. Looking at this swatch, I know I need to use this blush more as I love the shade! Also, I bought this at Swindon Designer Outlet, so I can’t remember the price and also can’t find it for sale online- sorry!
Such a cute mini sized blush that’s perfect for travel. Again, I’ve probably only used this once or twice since I bought it, so I definitely need to use it more. It’s a great blush that adds a subtle sheen and slight colour to your cheeks, without being too over the top. This is a buildable blush that isn’t overly pigmented – so obviously I really like it because of this!
Clinique Cheek Pop Blush, Ginger Pop – £17.00
The daisy/flower embossed on this blush is literally the cutest thing! It feels so Summery! The name of these blushes are also really cute, because they do literally add a ‘pop’ of colour to your cheeks! I love this blush a lot because it’s not too pigmented, but enough to warrant it’s £17 price point. It doesn’t apply patchy and it gives off the most natural flush of colour – it’s just perfect.
theBalm Fratboy Shadow/Blush – £16.75
You definitely need to be very light handed with this blush, a little goes a very long way and it is v e r y easy to make yourself look like a clown when using this – especially if you’re heavy handed! I love the shade of this particular blush, it gives off a very rosy yet natural flush to your cheeks. I can see this lasting such a long time as well, as you do get quite a bit of product in the pan.
