PERSONAL | Reflecting On My Goals For 2017

Admittedly, this post is a little overdue.. However, it’s better late than never right?!

I thought I’d look back and reflect on my personal goals that I set myself for 2017 – it seems like only yesterday that I created those goals, so let’s see how I’ve been getting on..

Blog More ~ I feel like I started off the year quite well with this, I was on a schedule of posting every three days and it was really working well for me. I then decided to have a blog upgrade, which took a little longer than expected and this disrupted my blog flow massively. Since then I haven’t been blogging anywhere near as much or reading blogs as much either, I’ve been trying to catch up and read my favourite blogs, whilst also trying to come up with my own post ideas – which I’ve been failing with. I’m hoping the inspiration will come back and I’ll be back to a regular schedule again.

Set Up My Etsy Shop ~ So this I have done, however it hasn’t been successful at all which is super embarrassing.. Either my photo’s are rubbish and no one likes them or, because my shop is fairly new and I don’t have a huge following, my shop is drowning around all of the other amazing shops on there.. Either way it’s been a bit soul destroying, not gonna lie! I have resorted to putting some of the photo’s on my eBay shop and one of them did sell the other day, which is amazing. I think I’m going to just tick along with this one and keep adding prints, but I’ll probably push it more once my following increases and more people will be able to see it.

Post More on YouTube ~ I’ve definitely failed this one haven’t I! I think this goal was a bit unrealistic to be honest, as I have a full time job so I don’t have the time to sit and film and edit YouTube videos unfortunately. I’d love to do it as I really enjoy watching YouTube videos, however I just don’t think this one is for me. Maybe some day, but definitely not yet.

Post More on Instagram ~ This goal has definitely been like ‘blog more’.. I started off fairly decently (as I had blog content photo’s to post), however now it’s started to slow down a bit – but at least I’m happy with the quality of the photo’s that I’m posting, as opposed to just posting a photo for the sake of it and not actually liking it..

Explore More ~ I don’t feel as if I’ve done too badly with this one, I started off the year with a hike/walk up one of the Mendip Hills in Somerset (not sure which one but the view was beautiful), at the very end of March I went down to Devon for a big family get together, in April I visited Cheddar for the first time and May was the month where I visited Scotland for the first time ever (Edinburgh to be exact). This may not seem like a lot to some people, but I’m not what you would call an explorer. However, I’m really enjoying see what is outside of my little Bristol bubble and I’ve got more planned for the rest of the year.

Have a Clear Out ~ This was well overdue and I’m happy to confirm that I’ve already had multiple clear out’s this year! It feels good to get rid of stuff that you don’t need or use anymore and send them off to a more loving home (or the tip if they’re old and battered!). I’ve been mainly trying to get rid of clothes via my eBay and Depop.

Do More Exercise ~ I’ve been doing pretty well on the exercise front, I have now signed up to Move GB and participate in three classes a week. I do Zumba and Zumba Toning every Tuesday for two hours and I’ve also started Yoga-Lattes on a Wednesday for an hour. Very recently, in the past week, I’ve also started riding my bike more and I’m trying to stick to going out once or twice a week – it’s really nice going out for a ride in the Summer-y evenings. I also plan to start two more classes on a Saturday morning, probably around September time.

Potentially Re-decorate My Room ~ Yeah, I’ve changed my mind with this one as I don’t think I can be bothered! I wanted to but then it costs too much money and I have more important things that I need to save up for (a house deposit).

Save My Half of the House Deposit Money ~ I’m nearly there guys!! I’m half way which is amazing for me as I’m really bad at saving my money – I blame ASOS and the copious amounts of emails I receive from companies with tempting money off codes..

Choose Happy ~ The beginning of the year started off really well for me mood wise. However, I’m slowly beginning to creep back into a negative nancy.. I’m trying to stay positive, but when your life literally hasn’t changed for 2 years or more this can be a little hard. I’ve got plenty to look forward to and I’m very lucky to have the life that I have, but I need to start stepping out of my comfort zone and making things happen. At the end of the day, I’m the only person in charge of my happiness. Also, this world is currently a very scary place to be, with regards to everything that’s happened recently, it’s hard not to be affected by these things and feel fear. We all need to stick together and spread positivity towards one another – no segregating and causing conflict over small things that really don’t matter. Let’s choose love, over fear.

Massive apologies for the very lengthy post, I tried to not jabber on but it looks like I failed at that..

I’m glad to have looked back and reflected on my goals, as it’s made me realise that I can do things if I put my mind to it. It’s also rewarding to see how far you come in only a few months.

Have you completed any of your goals you set yourself for 2017?xoxo

I’m glad some of your goals are going well! I didn’t set any this year but I kinda wish I did xx

    • Thank you! I don’t normally tend to set myself goals, but they’ve been fairly helpful this year! You could always set yourself a few goals for the rest of the year 🙂 xo

Mine was to try to get my pinterest working. My pins don’t seem to push automatically to my blog which is really annoying. Another one is to practice more mindfulness. I exercise quite a bit – although if I had more time I would do more. It is good that you seem to be meeting your goals!
    Set to Glow

    • I wouldn’t even have a clue how to do any of that with Pinterest – I still have no idea how people can even get that little Pinterest thing on their photo’s, it’s really bad because I should know! 100% exercise is so good for you, not just for your physical health but also for your mental health. Yes I’m pleased that I’ve managed to meet a fair few 🙂 xo

I only just started my blog – so I have my pinterest buttons on. Squarespace has a setting for that so it is was easy on my blog. My husband is in IT so he actually helped me with rich pins.
But my blog still isn’t pushing properly.
I guess I just have to wait for him to be able to help me again.

        • That’s really helpful that your husband is in IT! Luckily, I work next to someone who’s good at IT and he basically did my blog for me – which is amazing xo

  • My goals only really started a month or so ago, but I really want to use the Summer to get more into blogging and posting regularly. Although, I do admit that sometimes it can take a while to get posts done 🙂 x

    Velvet Blush

    • Yes Summer is definitely easier with regards to the photography content of blogging, however I always feel like no one really reads blogs during the Summer months as everyone is outside or on holiday etc. xo

  • I literally feel the same! I was doing great with Blogging/YouTube/Instagram and I’ve had bit of a dip recently but I’m really trying to get my motivation back!
I really hope you start to get your motivation and positivity back beauty!:)

    • It always goes that way I feel, especially during Summer because you just want to spend as much time outside as possible! Thank you and I hope your motivation comes back too 🙂 xo
