BEAUTY | My 2017 Beauty Faves

The time has come for me to share my favourite beauty products of 2017!

I absolutely love hearing/seeing what everyone has loved throughout the year. There are always great products mentioned and I normally end up adding a few more products to my ever growing wish list!

I’m definitely one of those people that doesn’t try new products for ages and when I do find products that work well for me, I’m very reluctant to switch things up and try something new. So, my list is fairly small but just know that I do absolutely adore every single one of these products mentioned.

Let’s start with skincare and first up is the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. This smells lovely and I feel like it cleanses my skin really well. My face always feels super soft after using it and my skin doesn’t feel all tight and dry, like it can do with other cleansers. Another skincare fave has got to be the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Cucumber and Green Tea. This honestly feels soo refreshing on the skin and I love to spritz this every morning to wake me up and then I generously spritz my face with this after my skincare routine, just to get as much hydration into my skin as possible. I’d wanted a facial oil for the longest time, but I never knew which one to get as there are soo many out there! The Pai Rosehip Oil was influenced by the lovely Kelsey, as I completely trust her skincare reviews and know that if I buy a product that she recommends, then I will love it. Which is exactly what happened with this facial oil! My skin always looks a lot better when I use this – definitely more radiant and it looks more hydrated too.

Now let’s talk about all of the makeup items I’ve been loving this year and I’m going to be honest, most of them are pretty recent so that just goes to show how stubborn I am with trying new products! I’ll start with my fave base products first and obviously I have to mention the Glossier Priming Moisturiser, I have been using this as my primer before applying my foundation and I absolutely love it. I love the way it makes my skin look, my foundation looks flawless sat on top of this and my face definitely feels moisturised after using it. Next up is my new holy grail foundation, the Estée Lauder Double Wear. I honestly never thought I would have this foundation in my collection, I always perceived this to be a really heavy duty foundation for those with problem skin and I was also under the impression that it would make me look like cake face. Oh how wrong was I! I can’t get over how flawless my skin looks after applying this and you don’t need a lot at all. I can also confirm that it’s super lightweight and doesn’t make me look like cake face – you can read my full review of this foundation here.

The Makeup Revolution Iconic Lights & Contour Pro Palette is perfect and my go-to contour shade lives in here (second shade in from the right, bottom row). It makes my cheeks look perfectly sculpted without them looking dirty/muddy or too ashy. Don’t be fooled by this super inexpensive palette, the pigmentation is real and you do not need to pack a lot onto your brush! Another Makeup Revolution product that has become a firm fave is the Illuminating Pro, this is no joke for £4!! It’s honestly up there with some of my high end faves (including Becca Champagne Pop and theBalm’s Mary Lou, which is slightly more affordable). I usually end up reaching for this highlighter the most and I can’t believe a highlighter this cheap has replaced my all time love, Champagne Pop.

I really don’t need to say much about the Maybelline Lash Sensational, other than the fact that it is incredible and you all need it in your life if you don’t already have it. I’ve tried many mascara’s in my makeup loving life and nothing compares to this beauty – not even Benefit Roller Lash which was my fave from last year! I never thought I’d find a slightly cheaper alternative to my love Benefit Gimme Brow, but I definitely have with the Glossier Boy Brow! This is cement for your eyebrows but it doesn’t make them feel crunchy at all, I just love it. I tend to have a love hate relationship with liquid lipsticks, I love the longevity of them but I hate how dry they make your lips feel. I do tend to look past the dryness when I find an absolute gem of a liquid lipstick that does not budge allll day. I introduce to you the Jouer Long Wear Lip Créme’s! The purchase of two of these was heavily influenced by Lily and I cannot thank her enough, I love these and I desperately want more shades. The pigmentation is incredible and the longevity? All day. I repeat: A L L D A Y. Through eating, drinking, talking, kissing, etc. Everything! I was shocked because I hadn’t tried a budge proof liquid lipstick like this offering from Jouer before, all of the ones I’ve previously tried have either been too uncomfortable to wear all day or wear off in the middle of my lips and leave me with lip liner lips instead which I despise. Talking about dry lips, my absolute saviour this year has definitely been the Glossier Balm Dot Com in Coconut. I generously apply a layer of this to my lips each evening when my lips are super dry and I wake up in the morning with hydrated lips again! I also tend to apply this underneath the Jouer Lip Créme for added moisture and it doesn’t affect how the liquid lipstick performs. I think I’ll be buying the mint option next, as I love a good minty fresh product.

I think I’ve rambled on enough in this post and I did try and make this as short as I could – I definitely failed with that.. – but there we have my 2017 beauty faves! I can’t believe that another year is over and a new one is about to begin, I need to get my butt in gear and reflect on last year’s goals and set myself some new ones for 2018.
