BEAUTY | My Highlighter Collection

If you didn’t already know, highlighter is my favourite makeup item! So I wanted to share my complete collection with you all today…

I am going to try and keep this post as short as possible.. I have six individual highlighter’s and three highlighting palette’s (that also have blush shades in) in my current collection – do I really n e e d all of these? Probably not. Do I still have my eye on more highlighter’s? Of course! Here’s my current highlighter wish list;

Makeup Revolution Pro Illuminate – £4.00 (post here)

I’ve recently already spoken about my love for this highlighter, so I won’t ramble on too much and repeat myself! One thing I will say is that you absolutely n e e d this highlighter in your collection and for £4 you really can’t go wrong. At the moment, this is probably my most used highlighter out of my whole collection, I just can’t get enough of it. The reason I love this one so much is because you can keep your highlight subtle, by not picking up too much product on your brush, but you can also really pack it on and achieve that super highlighted and glowy look. I also can’t ever see myself hitting pan – I mean, look at the size of it?!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit – no longer available (post here)

In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have ever bought this palette.. Which is a shame because I really thought I would love it! The only reason I’m not completely obsessed with this palette is because it only really contains two or three shades that I can realistically use. I guess I could use the pink and peach toned ones as blushes, but the highlight is soo intense so I’m just not really sure that would work for me either – but I’ll give it a go and see how I get on. Each individual shade is a fairly generous size and I completely adore the packaging – it’s pink and glittery, what more could I want?! – which is probably the main reason I even bought this! That being said, I do love Forever Lit, Forever Young and Glo Gletter all mixed together.

3ina The Highlighter 201 – £10.95* (post here)

The 3ina highlighter was one I kindly got sent and it’s the perfect shade for me, I love it. It’s also nice and natural which makes it perfect for everyday wear! The pan is a generous size and the packaging is super lightweight, making this one an easy option to travel with. There’s also no chunks of glitter in this one – it’s very finely milled, making it extremely soft and buttery to apply.

Makeup Revolution Blush Palette, Blush Goddess – £6.00 (post here)

I love the variety of wearable highlighting shades within this palette and I feel like they would suit all skin tones too, which is a massive bonus. I also like how subtle these are which makes them perfect for everyday wear – they give a lovely natural and soft glow to your complexion. I tend to mix them altogether and I love the highlighted look that I achieve by doing this.

Stila All Over Shimmer Duo Powder, Kitten – £15.00

Funny story with this one; I bought this highlighter for my sister and I received two, even though I’d only ordered one #WIN! This is another super subtle highlighter that’s perfect for everyday wear. If I was still at school now (and you weren’t allowed to wear makeup) then this would definitely be my highlighter of choice, as it’s super natural and nearly undetectable because your skin just looks glowy. Again, I tend to mix these two together and they work perfectly.

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette – no longer available (post here)

The packaging of this palette is just beautiful – I absolutely l o v e the white and gold with the confetti on the lid. The fact that this palette also has a huge mirror inside is amazing too and the whole palette is extremely sturdy and feels very luxurious. All three of the blush shades are perfect and extremely pigmented, so you don’t need to pack a lot on your brush at all. Both Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop are beautiful highlight shades and are also insanely pigmented – would you expect anything less from Jaclyn Hill though?! I 100% do not regret purchasing this palette and it makes me want to buy even more goodies from BECCA Cosmetics.

theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer – £20.00

If I could only suggest one highlighter from this list – and trust me, that would be super difficult – then it would have to be Mary Lou. This offering is so fab and one that I always go back to. I love the subtle yellow champagne shade of this highlighter, it makes this one a universal shade as it suits even the palest of skin tones (my nickname is corpse because of how pale my face is 🙂) and doesn’t have a dark undertone to it at all, however it would also suit darker skin tones – it will just be quite an icy highlighted shade and your highlight would blind people, what more could you want right?! I loove the packaging too, although the lid of mine has become quite loose..

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish, Soft & Gentle – £25.50

As you can tell from the old style packaging, I have had this highlighter in my collection for a reaaaally long time. In fact, Mac’s Soft & Gentle was my first ever ‘proper’ makeup purchase and also my first ever highlighter – I like to call this one the culprit that started my addication.. – I prefer to use Soft & Gentle when I’m more tanned, as it does have tones of bronze running through it, alongside peach. It’s easy to have a soft and subtle highlighted look with this one and it’s also a buildable highlighter too – it’s definitely suitable for everyday wear and as a first highlighter, it was perfect for me. I don’t use it as much these days, just because I prefer a more pale toned highlighter, but it’s still a fab product.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter, Champagne Pop – £32.00

My one true love – Champagne Pop. Champagne Pop and Mary Lou are pretty neck and neck when it comes to which one I’d choose if I could only choose one, which is quite funny actually as they’re completely different shades. Champagne Pop is a peach toned highlight that is insanely pigmented and definitely gives you the best highlighted cheekbones everrr. This one is normally my go-to for a night out, due to it being extremely pigmented, however you can still achieve a slightly more subtle highlight by tapping the excess off of your brush and only applying the tiniest amount to your cheekbones.
