FOOD | A Night At The Cuban

Last Friday, I was very kindly hosted by The Cuban, Bristol and my friend and I had such a lovely night!

There’s an amazing Bristol based app (Socialight) that helpfully connects Bloggers/Vloggers/Instagrammers/Photographers with local Bristol business’ and I was very lucky to be connected with The Cuban in Bristol. I’ve never actually been before but I’ve only ever heard rave reviews from those who have, so I was very excited to see what all of the fuss was about.

I’m going to start by saying that the atmosphere is amazing! I literally felt like I was on holiday and there’s no better feeling than that is there?! The music was playing (quite loud, so if you prefer a more intimate dinner affair then maybe don’t visit on a Friday evening..) and there was a happy buzz in the air. They also had a singer on the stage and brought out a dancer later on in the evening, there was a lot going on and my friend and I loved it.

I loved the decor in The Cuban (as you can imagine, it’s very Cuban..), all bright and colourful. They also have really cool wall art and comfy seats! One thing I hate about a lot of restaurants, is how uncomfortable the seats are (I know I sound totally snobby right now, but you must know what I mean right?!) and I can confirm that The Cuban seat’s were lovely and soft to sit on. I love the wooden tables too and the vibrant drink’s menu’s.

As I was invited along on the Friday, my friend and I were informed that Friday night at The Cuban is party night so they supply party hat’s for you to wear whilst you enjoy your meal!

Shall we get on to the good stuff? Food!

Obviously I’d already had a little peak at the menu before arriving (I do this every time before I eat out) and I immediately had my eye on the Tapas menu. If there’s Tapas at a restaurant, you can bet I’ll be ordering it! I love nothing more than picking at lots of little bits, so I was super happy to see that The Cuban had a Tapas menu.

I opted for the Chicken Quesadilla’s and Chicken Croquettes, whilst my friend Hannah decided to go for the Chicken Paella. All I can say is; D E L I C I O U S! We loved it all.

The Quesadilla’s came out on a little wooden board accompanied by Salsa, Guacamole and Sour Cream. The Mushroom Croquettes also came out on a little wooden board accompanied by the tastiest Garlic Mayo everrr. Both of my dishes were perfect and I’d go back in a heartbeat just to eat it all again.

My lovely friend Hannah treated herself to the Chicken Paella and she very kindly let me have some. It was super tasty and completely full of flavour – if you’re a massive fan of Paella, then I can see this being a hit with you! I’m not usually fussed on Paella and certainly not Chicken Paella either, as it can tend to be pretty bland, but The Cuban’s was not bland at all. They also offer a Seafood Paella (which my boyfriend would love) and a Vegetarian option for those who don’t eat meat.

We also treated ourselves to a cocktail – Hannah had a Raspberry Mojito (she’s obsessed with them) and I had a simple Hendrick’s Gin and Tonic.

I honestly cannot recommend The Cuban enough, the staff were super friendly and accommodating (our waitress was called Mary and she was soo lovely!), the food was amazing and the atmosphere was the best. If you live in Bristol or anywhere with The Cuban in close proximity, then I highly recommend visiting for a meal – I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed! I’m already itching to go back and eat there again. Thank you so much to both The Cuban and Socialight for hosting my friend I, we had such a fab evening!
